A lot has happened so far in 2017, and it makes me so excited for the rest of the year. Here’s a couple of the big things that happened in January, 2017.
I ran a marathon.
I may have mentioned this a time or two, but it was honestly so amazing to see how far I could really push myself. I also realized how much a positive attitude make a difference at these types of events.
I had my heart broken.
My longest relationship ended. I spent nearly two years with one person, and it’s over now. I lost my best friend. I’m now in that moving on process.
I have learned a lot.
“A lot” doesn’t even begin to cover it. The marathon taught me about myself. GORUCK Constellation taught me about surviving in apocalyptic situations. Other events have taught me the importance of community. I’ve learned skills on rapport/relationship building. I’ve learned to be happy on my own. I have learned how wonderful people are as well.
I have rediscovered the feeling of being a part of a community.
Having your heart broken can make you feel extremely lonely. Losing a loved one can give you an empty feeling. I didn’t want to feel like this, so I set my sights on becoming more involved in some of the amazing communities around me. It’s amazing how wonderful it feels to do things you love with others who love them too. It’s beautiful to see people with all different backgrounds, beliefs, and lifestyles brought together over one common interest. It’s a wonderful feeling to be a part of something.
I have gotten stronger.
The hardest part for me was getting into the routine of going to the gym. I’m happy to say I have a pretty solid routine. I’ve been really noticing the strength I’ve gained both physically and mentally.
I have been focusing on building relationships.
One of events I participated in focused on the importance of rapport building. We discussed and learned about different ways we can successfully build relationships with those around us. I decided I really wanted to focus on building relationships with the people I meet and really getting to know as many people as possible.
I started a blog.
This one’s pretty self explanatory. Thank you for reading, and I hope you continue to follow and enjoy my adventures.
January 2017 has had it’s ups and downs, but it’s ultimately made me so excited for what the next 11 months will bring.
